Introducing a new feature on KewlPix, Truth in Advertising! Here we have an advertisement I received this morning for the special 75th birthday donuts from Krispy Kreme. Since today is my daughter’s birthday (Happy birthday, Lillian!) and we had to drop my husband off at the train station this morning, we decided to pick up some special donuts on the way home. Normally we would wait until we got home to eat donuts, but since it was a special day, I pulled into the parking lot and opened the box to give the kids some treats. The picture following the ad is exactly what our “special” donuts looked like 20 seconds after receiving them.
You can’t see in the picture very well, but they’re not smooshed because of the box top. There were only 2 blots of creme on the top of the box, most of the donuts didn’t have nearly enough creme to even reach that far! And as you can see on most of the chocolate donuts, the creme seems to have vanished into a chocolatey black hole.
Initially I was going to re-make the ad with my real donuts in place of the ones in the ad, but decided a simple comparison was best.
